Gippsland Women’s Health (GWH), in partnership with six Gippsland local governments, set out to tackle a complex but critical challenge: how to create a safe, accessible and trauma-informed way for council staff to speak up about sensitive issues such as gendered violence, sexual harassment, and workplace misconduct.

As part of the Our Equal Local Government (OELG) project, GWH was looking for a reporting service that could cater to each council’s unique needs while enabling regional collaboration; and it needed to be flexible, secure, and scalable.

At the heart of their solution is Your Call – our external hotline service led by a dedicated, human-first team with deep experience supporting people in distress.

Why Your Call? Because People Need Empathy, Not Just Efficiency

GWH needed more than a formulaic reporting channel. They needed a nuanced human service that could deliver:

  • Anonymity and confidentiality, without barriers;
  • 24/7 access via web, email and phone;
  • Trauma-informed responses, grounded in empathy;
  • Cultural sensitivity and real-time guidance; and
  • Local understanding – not offshore scripts.

That’s where Your Call came in. With our team of trained, Australian-based Disclosure Officers, we provide more than a reporting channel – we provide a psychologically safe space, where every voice is listened to without judgment and every experience is treated with compassion and professionalism. Whether someone is making their first ever disclosure or is unsure how to report something they’ve seen, our expert hotline team is ready to support them safely and respectfully.

A Shared Commitment to Safety and Respect

By implementing individually tailored online platforms for each council, with centralised benchmarking capabilities, Your Call delivered a personalised, yet holistic solution – one that supports diverse reporting requirements and enables consistent and intelligent management, reporting and resolution of matters received.  Key outcomes include:

  • Connected, council-specific platforms across six local governments;
  • Safe, external reporting options to build trust and psychological safety;
  • Scalable case management to manage both every day and complex matters;
  • Data sovereignty and full compliance with Australian privacy standards; and
  • A clear, shared commitment to a zero-tolerance approach to misconduct.

Real People, Real Impact

We’re proud of the feedback we’ve received from the GWH team, like this from Project Lead, Ashlee McConnell: “The team at Your Call are so easy to work with. They have been extremely flexible and accommodating whilst we navigate onboarding with the timelines of six different organisations.”

Our agile, customer-first commitment – and our human-led approach – are what sets Your Call apart. Whether this extends to our attentive, personalised customer support, our trained, compassionate people, or our inclusive and trauma-informed processes and practices, we partner with our clients to understand and attend to their unique needs.

A New Benchmark in Local Government Reporting

Through this collaboration, GWH and its council partners have set a new standard for how local government can lead on safety, gender equity, and workplace wellbeing. By combining a comprehensive external reporting service with the power of personalised support, Your Call is helping to build safer, more inclusive cultures where everyone’s voice can be heard – and protected.

Need to build a safer, human-first reporting system in your organisation? We’re here to help and we’d love to hear from you.
